As a lifelong 3D artist, I've been meaning to get into the world of physical product design for years. The only thing holding me back was lack of an idea.
Well, now I have one. Behold the C'auger, or Coffee Auger, very much a work in progress.
One thing you may not know about cafetierres is that the spent coffee grounds really shouldn't be washed down the sink drain. They belong in a landfill, or, even better, a compost heap. But scooping those grounds out by hand is messy and still leaves a lot of soggy grounds in the cafetierre.
C'auger fixes this. It gets 99% of the grounds out with a simple scooping motion. Then the C'auger and the cafetierre can go in the dishwasher. No more extra water required, and nearly all of the grounds go where they belong!
But this product isn't ready for Dragon's Den. No, it's a learning exercise for me. I know 3D modelling and quite a lot about marketing, but 3D printing, product prototyping, injection molding and safety standards are all new to me. But no better way to learn than digging in, right? *Yes, that was a pun.
Check back soon as I'll keep updating as I go.
