D'istral is short for Digital Mistral. This is a personal project combining my generative Houdini paint system - Stroke-it - and realtime weather data supplied by openweathermap.org. The system acquires up-to-date weather information from any of 200,000 cities, including time of day, temperature, cloud cover, precipitation and wind speed, and then uses these values to create a unique abstract interpretation of the local weather. *Some of these images are direct renders from D'istral. There are a few issues with the live-generated strokes that currently appear as black shapes. I'm working on it! I've also started printing some of my favorite D'istral paintings. I plan to start releasing these as unique prints for purchase.
