Houdini is kind of amazing. It took me a while to realize this. But once I did, I suddenly wanted to try every crazy CG idea I’d ever had, but had failed to achieve.
So here’s my attempt to replicate real life oil paintings in a CG application. All the geometry is created inside Houdini using a custom sweep object, with controls for things like stroke width, bristle height and color mixing. I’m using Redshift to render.
